PokéSurvivor Boss Guide: Timeline and Arceus Fight
When each PokéSurvivor boss arrives, what rifts and weather do, and how the Judgment of Arceus at minute 30 ends every run.

The run timeline
A run is built around a clock. Five bosses arrive on a fixed schedule, and since the October 13 update every run that survives long enough ends at minute 30 with the Judgment of Arceus.
| Time | What happens |
|---|---|
| 0:00 | The run starts and the first waves of wild Pokémon arrive. |
| 2:00 | Weather can start rolling in, changing which types hit hard. |
| 3:00 | Boss 1. |
| 6:00 | Boss 2. |
| 9:00 | Boss 3. |
| 12:00 | Boss 4. |
| 15:00 | Boss 5. |
| Any time | A distortion rift can open onto a legendary. |
| 28:00 | Rifts stop opening. |
| 30:00 | The Judgment of Arceus begins. Every run ends here. |
The five bosses
Bosses are strong, non-legendary Pokémon drawn at random from power bands that get higher with each slot, so the line-up changes every run. Legendaries only show up in rifts.
| Boss | Arrives | Base health | Base damage | XP reward |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Boss 1 | 3:00 | 1,890 | 41 | 220 |
| Boss 2 | 6:00 | 4,320 | 50 | 420 |
| Boss 3 | 9:00 | 7,560 | 58 | 680 |
| Boss 4 | 12:00 | 12,150 | 67 | 1,000 |
| Boss 5 | 15:00 | 21,600 | 82 | 1,800 |
These are base values before the clock-based scaling that makes bosses tougher the later they appear. The game is patched often, so exact numbers can change.
- Bosses and legendaries use four telegraphed attacks and get enraged at half health.
- Bosses ignore terrain, so you cannot hide behind obstacles.
- Every boss drops a held item, and about one boss in three also drops a x10 gacha ticket.
Rifts and legendaries
At random moments a distortion rift opens near you and stays open for 45 seconds. Step in and you fight a legendary in a closed arena built around its type, with 18 arenas in total and a two-minute limit. Win, and the legendary drops coins and tickets (a x10 ticket half of the time) and you earn a bond, which lets you fuse moves so they fire together from one slot. Lose or run out the clock, and you return to the map with a little health and no reward. The run carries on, and the wild Pokémon you left behind are waiting exactly as they were.
Rifts can appear from about 1:15. They are less random than they used to be: the game checks every 30 seconds and each miss raises the chance of the next one, so you never go more than about two and a half minutes without a rift. Legendaries you have not beaten yet show up four times as often. Rifts stop opening at 28:00 so the Judgment cannot catch you inside one.
Weather
From around minute 2 weather can roll in for roughly a minute at a time. It affects you and the enemies alike and changes which types hit hard, so check the matchup before you commit to a build.
Held items
You carry one held item per run. Items come from chests, more often the locked ones, and from bosses. If you find a second one you choose which to keep.
| Held item | Effect |
|---|---|
| Leftovers | Recover 1.5% of your max health every second. |
| Choice Band | +40% damage, but you cannot switch moves. |
| Quick Claw | -20% cooldown on all your moves. |
| Focus Sash | A hit that would knock you out leaves you on 1 health (once every 60 seconds). |
| Shell Bell | Heal by the damage you deal. |
| Amulet Coin | +50% PokéCoins at the end of the run. |
| Lucky Egg | +30% experience. |
| Life Orb | +30% damage, but each attack costs a little health. |
| Choice Scarf | +35% speed. |
| Rocky Helmet | Enemies that hit you in melee take damage. |
| Assault Vest | +20% damage reduction. |
The Judgment of Arceus (minute 30)
At 30:00 the normal run is over. A cutscene plays (you can skip it after the first time, and in co-op only the host can skip), then Arceus descends from the sky and takes you to the Ruins of Judgment, a huge ruined arena.
- Arceus cannot be hurt. It is not an enemy and your attacks do not target it.
- It chases you faster and faster. Touching it costs 40% of your health and it ignores types and defense.
- It also casts pillars of light, crossing beams and shockwaves. Every one of them is telegraphed on the ground first.
- Every 5 seconds a random legendary joins, each with double the health and double the damage of the one before. The first is tuned so it does not die instantly, at roughly three seconds of your focused damage.
- Legendaries in the Judgment give experience and nothing else: no coins, no tickets, no items.
- There is no time limit, but the pile of legendaries grows stronger without end. The eighth hits 128 times harder than the first, so every run ends here. The question is how long you last.
- Nothing else spawns during the fight. No waves, no events and no rifts. If you are inside a rift or picking a card at 30:00, the Judgment starts as soon as you finish.
What the mechanics suggest
- Do not waste effort on Arceus. Spend it on moving and on the legendaries, which do give experience.
- Read the floor. Pillars, beams and shockwaves always show a warning before they land.
- Keep moving. Arceus speeds up, so standing still loses to it.
Achievements and leaderboards
- The Judgment: reach minute 30.
- Before the Creator: survive 1 minute against Arceus.
- Divine challenge: defeat 3 legendaries against Arceus in a single run.
- Leaderboards were reset when the Judgment arrived. Only runs that reach it count, and the server checks that records were really played.
